1914: The Perfect Season, Museum Exhibit

Celebrate the centennial of UT's 1914 Football Season in which the Longhorns won every game and outscored their opponents 358-21 through this new exhibit at the H. J. Lutcher Stark Center. The 1914 football team left a large legacy behind them.  Ten people associated with the 1914 team team were selected as members of the Longhorn Hall of Honor—seven players; the head coach, David Allerdice; Billy Disch, the conditioning coach; and the athletic trainer Henry Reeves, an African-American who helped UT teams from 1895 until half-time of the A&M game in College Station in 1915 when he was overtaken by a stroke from which he never recovered.  No UT team in the century since has had as many men selected by the Hall of Honor.

The exhibit also celebrates Clyde Littlefield, arguably the University’s greatest athlete, who lettered in football, basketball, and track and field for four years; tied a world record in the 120-yard high hurdles, and starred in all three sports. Littlefield was also successful as the head coach of the Longhorn football team and as head coach of track and field, a position he held for 43 years.  Littlefield also served as Olympic coach and founded and helped develop the Texas Relays into one of the most importat track and field competitions in the world.
