2014 George I. Sánchez Memorial Lectures in the Social Sciences and Education

The Center for Mexican American Studies (CMAS) and the Department of Mexican American and Latina/o Studies (MALS) will host the 2014 George I. Sánchez Memorial Lectures in the Social Sciences and Education.

The George I. Sánchez Memorial Lectures in the Social Sciences and Education are presented by faculty affiliates of CMAS or are faculty members of MALS who are either in their first year of service at the University or who have been recently promoted to associate or full professor.

Alfonso Gonzales, Assistant Professor, Department of Mexican American and Latina/o Studies and Teresa Lozano Long Institue for Latin American Studies. The title of his talk is "Justice Denied: Mexicans, Central Americans and the Politics of the “Refugee Crisis."

Michael Rivera, Assistant Professor, Department of Mexican American and Latina/o Studies and Department of Goverment. The title of his talk is "The Politics of U.S. State Immigration Policy: Public Opinion and Representation."
