This graduate porfolio plática by José R. Del Real Viramontes examines the transfer culture at a Texas public flagship university for Latina/o community college transfer students. Findings discussed in this presentation suggest that the university should improve the outreach, orientation /transition programs, academic/social support services, as well as support the creation of a transfer student community on campus.
José R. Del Real Viramontes is a Masters candidate in the Department of Curriculum and Instruction (Cultural Studies in Education) with a Graduate Portfolio in Mexican American Studies. His thesis supervisor is Luis Urrieta, Jr., Associate Professor in the Department of Curriculum and Instruction.
