Community Conversation about Vincent Valdez's "The City"

Join us for a Community Conversation about The City, the large-scale paintings now on view at the Blanton Museum of Art.

Facilitators:

  • Nelson Linder, President of N.A.A.C.P. Austin
  • Ray Williams, Director of Education and Academic Resources at the Blanton

We'll explore this artwork through close looking, learning about the artist’s process and intentions, and wide-ranging conversation about racism in our society.  The facilitators will frame the discussion and encourage thoughtful dialogue.  Each session will last about 45 minutes and will be limited to 50 participants.

Please check in with our Visitor Services Desk at least 10-15 minutes before the program begins due to limited capacity.

Coordinated in collaboration with For Freedoms' 50 State Initiative.
