Exhibition: Epic Tales from Ancient India: Paintings from The San Diego Museum of Art

Abduction. Betrayal. Heroic battles. Larger-than-life stories depicted with the miniaturist’s delicacy of touch and vibrant colors. This exhibition is drawn from The San Diego Museum of Art’s outstanding collection of Indian paintings. For viewers of all ages, the images provide a compelling introduction to classic Indian and Persian texts: Ramayana, Bhagavata PuranaRagamala, and the Persian Book of Kings, Shahnameh. Complementing these tales of epic adventure, the Ragamala offers images related to specific musical modes and the varied emotions they convey.

This exhibition is organized by The San Diego Museum of Art.
