"Punishment and Profits": Screening & Discussion

Texans United for Families (TUFF) presents the short film "Punishment and Profits," a film on for-profit detention centers and the real-life impact of immigration policies and practices on our communities.

The short film will be followed by a discussion facilitated by members of TUFF and the Austin Immigrant Rights Coalition (AIRC). We will also be joined by some of the individuals who were recently arrested outside of the Travis County Jail for protesting the Secure Communities program, which has led to 19 deportations a week and the continued separation of families.

TUFF is a network of individuals and groups working to end immigration detention and deportations as well as to demand the recognition of human rights of all community members.

The AIRC is a membership-based coalition of immigrants, allies and organizations that promotes human rights and dignity, and social and economic justice for immigrants through community organizing, policy advocacy and public education.
