Financing the Clean Economy

Jonathan Silver, President & CEO of Greenbanc Global, is the guest speaker at this week’s UT Energy Symposium. He will give a talk on Financing the Clean Economy.

Mr. Silver is one of the country’s leading clean energy advisors and investors. He is the Managing Partner of Tax Equity Advisors, LLC, a fund focused on providing financing to mid to large-scale solar projects and the CEO of Greenbanc Global, LLC, an advisor to both clean energy companies and investors.

During the first Obama Administration, Mr. Silver led the federal government’s $50 billion clean energy investment fund, leading investments in some of the world’s largest wind, solar, geothermal, biofuel and nuclear projects. Named one of the country’s top-ten “influencers” in green-tech, he also sits on the boards of American Forests (the nation’s oldest forest conservation organization), the Solar Electric Light Fund and the Wind Energy Foundation.

Mr. Silver co-founded the venture firm Core Capital Partners, and was COO of Tiger Management, one of the country’s largest hedge funds. He began his career at McKinsey & Company.

Mr. Silver has served as senior policy advisor to four U.S. Cabinet Secretaries – Energy, Commerce, Interior and Treasury – and has served on numerous corporate and non-profit boards. He is a graduate of Harvard University, a recipient of both a Rotary and a Fulbright Fellowship and lives with his wife and two children in Washington, DC.

The UT Energy Symposium meets every Thursday during the long semesters. Come early to attend a networking session before the talk: refreshments will be served at 4:45 p.m. in the POB Connector Lobby outside the auditorium.
