Foro Urgente: Understanding the Humanitarian Crisis on the Border

This "urgent forum" is co-sponsored by LLILAS Benson Latin American Studies and Collections and the Center for Mexican American Studies. A panel of experts will discuss the crisis on the U.S.-Mexico border from various perspectives. A community forum and reception follow. Moderated by John Burnett, National Public Radio journalist.

5 p.m.—Causes and Consequences of the Crisis, featuring Father Ismael Moreno (Honduras), Professor Alfonso Gonzales (LLILAS/CMAS), Professor Denise Gilman (UT School of Law Immigration Clinic).

6:30 p.m.—Plenary Discussion on Community Response: Local organizations will share information on long- and short-term initiatives that they are implementing to advocate for affected communities.
