About the Harry Ransom Center: 
The Harry Ransom Center benefits the community-at-large by providing educational, artistic, and creative enrichment through its holdings of rare books, manuscripts, photography, art, film, and the performing arts. These original materials are available to the public through the research library, exhibitions, and programs. 

Development Department: 
Within the Harry Ransom Center, the development office works with the Director to secure major financial support for the organization. In addition to fundraising from individual donors, the staff also works to secure gifts from foundations, government agencies, and corporate donors. The development office also works with the Ransom Center’s Advisory Council –a group of approximately forty volunteer members –who also assist with fundraising and enhancing the profile of the Harry Ransom Center. 

Job Description: 
Gain administrative and fundraising experience in a fast-paced development office at the Harry Ransom Center. Assist and support the development office with its day-to-day activities. Duties include: updating donor records, copying and collating material for donors, working in UT's VIP database, assisting with meeting preparation, assisting with special events and grant writing, and providing general administrative support as needed. 

Must have federal work-study award to apply for this position. Interest in fundraising for arts or humanities, or an interest in museum management. Must be able to handle confidential material responsibly. Advanced skills in Excel and relational databases. A successful candidate will have a professional and positive attitude; excellent interpersonal communication skills; attention to detail and strong organizational skills. Must be reliable, punctual and available to work a consistent schedule, Monday – Friday between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m.
