Hate Speech: A Constitutional Perspective with Professor H.W. Perry: A TPU Discussion

"Congress shall make no law . . . abridging the freedom of speech." Notwithstanding the language of the First Amendment there are kinds of speech that are unprotected because of the immediacy of the threat or because of a possible incitment. Where does hate speech--expression or verbalized speech that espouses bigotry and prejudice--fall in the speech spectrum? Government and Law professor H.W. Perry will help Texas Political Union explore through his famed application of the Socratic method the boundaries we are willing to set.

The Texas Political Union is the first non-partisan political debate and discussion organization on campus. It promotes civic engagment and leadership through robuts and civil discourse.
