Volunteer: Help Sow Pine Seeds at Wildflower Center

The Wildflower Center seeks volunteers to help sow seeds of loblolly pines that will be grown in our expanded tree nursery to help replace those lost in the 2011 Bastrop County fire, which burned over 34,000 acres of woodland in the Lost Pines area. Once sown and grown, the seedlings will be used in large-scale community planting efforts in the fire-ravaged community. No special knowledge or skills are required and training will be on-the-job with our nursery staff. The task involves some bending and lifting. Volunteers are needed in February and early March.

Volunteers are asked to meet in the Volunteer Room 15 minutes before the shift starts (see map at www.wildflower.org/map/). Volunteer shifts are Monday-Friday, 8:30 a.m.–noon; Saturday and Sunday, 9 a.m.-1 p.m. RSVP to cmcdonald@wildflower.org.
