Ignite Texas Presents: Women in Politics Panel

Saturday, April 26, 2014 at 11:00am to 1:00pm

Student Activity Center (SAC), Ballroom North 2201 SPEEDWAY, Austin, Texas 78712

Ignite Texas presents Women in Politics Panel. The Women’s Campaign Forum estimates that 50 percent fewer women than men consider running for office. Join us as we discuss why there are so few women in politics. We will hear from strong community leaders from both political parties. Our panelists help provide insight into the road of politics for women leaders on campus.

Our panel discussion begins at 11:00 a.m. followed by a networking reception 12:15 p.m. Light refreshments will be served. The atmosphere will be relaxed, yet professional.

Presented by Ignite Texas, a chapter of a nonprofit organization that focuses on the involvement of women in politics.

Panelists include:

 - Austin Mayor Pro Tem Sheryl Cole (Democrat)

 - Martha Liner from Austin Republican Women (Republican)

 - Mary Jane Smitherman, wife of a railroad commissioner (Republican)

Moderated by Rachel Osterloh, member of Ignite Texas, President-Elect of Liberal Arts Council.
