Islam Awareness Week 2014

Assalaam Alaikum and may peace be upon you! 

Islam Awareness Week is a joint initiative launched by the Texas Muslim Students’ Association, Nueces Mosque, Society for Islamic Awareness, United Muslim Relief Texas, and the Texas Ahmadiyya Muslim Students Organization. We invite the UT and Austin communities to come out to a week full of knowledge and excitement to learn about the beautiful religion followed by over one billion Muslims worldwide.

From  April 15 - 18 Texas Ahmadiyya Muslim Students Organization - AMSO host Muslims for Life Blood Drives with ICARE and Lions Club, on Speedway plaza from 11 a.m. - 5 p.m. daily.

Monday 4/14
“Hijab Talks” – 11 a.m. West Mall
Come try on a hijab and engage in dialogue with Muslim hijabi women to learn the truth about hijab and clear up common misconceptions.

“Prayer Evening” hosted by the Society for Islamic Awareness – 7 p.m.
Learn about the importance of prayer for Muslims as we hold a prayer evening consisting of prayer recitations, with english translations, and with a discussion section.

Tuesday 4/15
“What do I think of Islam?” – 11 a.m. West Mall
Come write on our board about your thoughts on Islam and engage in active dialogue.

Muhammad (PBUH): From Facts to Fiction - A Part of Islamic Awareness Week at UT Austin hosted by the Texas Ahmadiyya Muslim Students Organization – 6:30 p.m. Welch 2.122
Join us for a lecture on the beloved Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him).

Wednesday 4/16
“The Beauty of Islam” – 11 a.m. West Mall
We’ll be distributing flowers with words from the Holy Qur’an and the hadith of the Prophet (Peace be upon him).

“What is Shariah Law with Sheikh Osama Eisa” hosted by the Texas Muslim Students’ Association – 6:30 p.m. CLA 0.102

Thursday 4/17
“The Similarities in Scripture” – 11 a.m. West Mall
Sheikh Osama Eisa will be talking about the similarities in the different scriptures, including the Qur’an, the Bible, and the Torah.

“Brand Name: Islam” hosted by Nueces Mosque – 6 p.m. Nueces Mosque
Join us for a lecture on the Muslim identity followed by dinner!

Friday 4/18
“Jummah Prayer” – 1 p.m. West Mall
Join us for our weekly Friday sermon and prayer.

“Giving: The Heart of Faith” hosted by United Muslim Relief Texas – 6:30 p.m. SAC 2.302 
Sheikh Islam will be talking about the importance of charity and giving in the Muslim faith.
