Research + Pizza featuring Dr. Gary Freeman on the Politics of Immigration

Research + Pizza courts a timely, if controversial, topic for the second installment of the spring semester.

Gary Freeman — faculty in UT’s Department of Government — discusses how immigration policy implementation and demographic changes will have a historic impact on the future of our local, state and national governmental bodies.

Freeman has spent decades analyzing immigration policies and attitudes in the major western democracies and has written extensively on related topics.

He is currently editing a Handbook on Migration and Social Policy, set for publication next year, and has published four books, Immigrant Labor and Racial Conflict in Industrial Societies (1979), Nations of Immigrants: Australia, the United States, and International Migration (1992)(edited with James Jupp), Immigration Policy and Security (2009)(edited with Terri Givens, and David Leal) and Immigration and Public Opinion in Liberal Democracies (2013)(edited with Randall Hansen and David Leal).

Free Pizza (while it lasts) generously provided by program supporter Austin’s Pizza.

Research + Pizza is a lunchtime lecture series featuring research presentations by faculty from across the university.
