Join us for vital and vibrant readings by CantoMundo Poets ire’ne lara silva (blood sugar canto, Aztlan Libre Press; Furia: Poems, Mouthfeel Press; Flesh to Bone: Stories, Aunt Lute Books) and Octavio Quintanilla (If I Go Missing: Poems, Slough Press) followed by the poets in discussion with CantoMundo Co-Director and poet Celeste Guzmán Mendoza (Beneath the Halo: Poems, Wings Press) about the daily sustenance of Chican@ poetry, the role of CantoMundo in poetry today, the political life of poetry broadsides, and more. Barrio Writers youth poets will open the event and join in the closing conversation.
UT Design Program student-created broadsides with poems by the two featured poets will be available for free at the event. Books will be available for purchase at the event.
This evening is an event of The University of Texas Libraries UT Poetry Center, CantoMundo: Cultivating a Community of Latina/o Poets, & Barrio Writers.
