The Black Arts Movement: From LeRoi Jones to Amiri Baraka

The Center for Art of Africa and Its Diasporas (CAAD) is pleased to announce the first major event organized for UTOPIA: the University of Texas Outreach Program In Art, connecting the College of Fine Arts with organizations and individuals from the larger Austin community.

UTOPIA's inaugural event, “The Black Arts Movement: From LeRoi Jones to Amiri Baraka,” features student presentations, music, and performance in an interactive workshop on the black arts movement of the 1960s and 1970s as well as contemporary post-black aesthetics. A reception immediately follows the event.
