Tracie M. Matysik: Lou Andreas-Salomé’s Spinozist Psychoanalysis

Tracie M. Matysik, IHS fellow and associate professor of history at The University of Texas at Austin, presents a workshop titled "Between Trauma and Affect: Lou Andreas-Salomé’s Spinozist Psychoanalysis." Matysik is the author of Reforming the Moral Subject: Ethics and Sexuality in Central Europe, 1890-1930 (2008) and is currently working on a book manuscript titled "Spinoza Matters: Pantheism, Materialism, and Alternative Enlightenment Legacies in Nineteenth-Century Europe." Her research interests include modern European intellectual history and the evolution of secularism as a social movement.
