WGS Master’s Thesis & BA Honors Colloquium

The Center for Women’s & Gender Studies is pleased to host a public colloquium for graduate students completing the MA thesis and for undergraduates participating in the Honors Program in Women’s & Gender Studies.

MA Students:

Austin Rodenbiker:  “Imagining Queerness / Queer Imagination: Online Slash Fiction and Radical Fan Productions.” Mr. Rodenbiker’s MA thesis is being supervised by Dr. Simone Browne, Assistant Professor of African and African Diaspora Studies and Women’s and Gender Studies. Dr. Ann Cvetkovich, Professor of English and Women’s and Gender Studies, is the second reader.

Patena Starlin-Key: “Trick(Ster)ing Ain't Easy: (Re)Discovering the Black Butch and (De)Stabilizing Gender in Street Lit.” Ms. Starlin-Key’s MA thesis is being supervised by Dr. Matt Richardson, Associate Professor of English, African and African Diaspora Studies, and Women's and Gender Studies. Dr. Omise’eke Tinsley, Associate Professor of African and African Diaspora Studies and Women’s and Gender Studies, is the second reader.

BA Honors Students:

Devon Howard: “The Power of the Uterus: A Brief History of Childbirth in America.” Ms. Howard’s honors thesis is being supervised by Dr. Helena Woodard, Associate Professor of English and Women’s and Gender Studies.

Zoey Lichtenheld:  “Let Her Speak: Using Subversive Testimony to be Heard.” Ms. Lichtenheld’s honors thesis is being supervised by Dr. Sharmila Rudrappa, Associate Professor of Sociology and Women’s and Gender Studies.

Bibha Suvedi: Ms. Suvedi’s honors thesis is being supervised by Dr. Noel Busch-Armendariz, Associate Dean for Research, Professor of Social Work and Women’s and Gender Studies, and Director, Institute on Domestic Violence & Sexual Assault.
