http://www.poder-texas.org/victories.htmlJoin the Department of Population Health and People Organized in Defense of Earth and her Resources (PODER) to march in support of Right to Stay and Right to Return programs that address one of the negative effects of gentrification in areas like East Austin: displacement of longtime residents.
Largely due to such advocacy from the community, the Austin City Council passed a resolution on March 8 to adopt the Right to Stay and Right to Return programs. The measure calls for giving preference for affordable housing to people who have generational ties to certain areas in hopes that residents can return to and stay in the neighborhood.
