The Plan II Honors Program and the Carpenter family, with the support of the Center for the Study of Race and Democracy, the LBJ Library, and the LBJ Foundation, are honored to announce the 2023 Liz Sutherland Carpenter Distinguished Visiting Lectureship featuring Pulitzer Prize-winning historian and law professor Annette Gordon-Reed. The lecture will take place on Thursday, September 21, from 6 to 7:15 PM in the Lady Bird Johnson Auditorium. Attendance is free and open to the public.  No tickets required.

Dr. Annette Gordon-Reed is a Professor of History in the Faculty of Arts and Sciences at Harvard University, the Carl M. Loeb University Professor at Harvard Law School, and the award-winning author of six books. Her latest book, “On Juneteenth”, sets out to capture the integral importance of the holiday to American history.
