8th Biennial Graduate Student Conference of the Department of Germanic Studies

Breaking Down Barriers: An Interdisciplinary Examination of Barriers in a Globalized World

Keynote Speaker: Dr. Lee M. Roberts,  Purdue University Fort Wayne

In 2020, Germany will celebrate the 30th anniversary of a reunified nation, but social, economic, and cultural divides remain. This issue is not unique to Germany; barriers of identity, political affiliation and physical borders have returned to the front pages of the world’s newspapers: in the United Kingdom, the United States, the Koreas, and Hong Kong, among other places.

The Graduate Association of Germanic Language Students invites graduate students to join us for our eighth biennial Graduate Student Conference of the Department of Germanic Studies. This year’s conference focuses on breaking down barriers in both material, linguistic, and metaphysical senses.
