The PCL is proud to host the Altar de Muertos as a part of this year’s celebration of Día de Muertos (Day of the Dead). Discussing México (DIME), a student organization at The University of Texas at Austin that aims to create spaces for the informed discussion of contemporary issues affecting Mexico, in collaboration with the Knight Center for Journalism, will display a traditional memorial altar and calaveras poetry exhibit throughout the month of November. The altar will pay tribute to Mexican journalists and activists whose voices have been silenced through violence and coercion. 

The altar will be photographically documented and digitally archived in the library’s digital repository, Texas ScholarWorks.
