About this Event
Literacy First AmeriCorps Tutors work full-time in a low-income elementary school teaching young children to read. Literacy First places highly trained AmeriCorps tutors in low-income elementary schools in Austin and Pflugerville to ensure K-2nd grade children advance to grade level in reading before third grade. 75% of students in our program either fully reach or make measurable progress reading at grade level helping close the opportunity gap in Austin.

What's Involved?
*Commit to serve as Literacy First Tutor for 10 months from September through June
*Provide daily 1-on-1 tutoring to 10-12 K-2nd grade students
*Teach and learn using a research-based curriculum *Participate in community service projects with local non-profits
