  annually to raise money to support the programs of the Annette Strauss Ins
 titute for Civic Life. The event brings together state and local community 
 leaders to engage in stimulating conversation on topics relevant to civic l
 ife.\n\nThe theme of Great Conversations 2019 is "The Renewal of Common Gro
 und\," to be held at the AT&T Executive Education Conference Center on Tues
 day\, February 26\, 2019. Honorary 2019 event Co-Chairs are Rusty Kelley an
 d Del Williams. Dr. Larry Faulkner\, former President of the University of 
 Texas at Austin and Chancellor of the University of Texas System will be pr
 esented with the Shirley Bird Perry Longhorn Citizenship Award.\n﻿\nApproxi
 mately 40 student leaders will be selected to facilitate a half-hour conver
 sation among the guests seated at their dinner table. This responsibility i
 ncludes posing questions and working to ensure everyone has an opportunity 
 to contribute to the discussion. As a student conversation leader\, your na
 me will be printed in the event program and included on the event website. 
 You will receive complimentary admission to the Great Conversation VIP rece
 ption and dinner and training on how to facilitate conversations. A few stu
 dent conversation leaders will also be selected to have a speaking role as 
 part of the opening program\, sharing with the attendees your vision and id
 eas for civic and political life. Student conversation leaders must be enro
 lled at a Texas college or university for the 2019 spring semester. Applica
 tions are due by 8 pm on January 15.
