MRSEC Visiting Critic Lecture

Mike Egan, artist and founder of Ramiken, a contemporary art gallery in Los Angeles, will discuss the current use of advanced technologies by contemporary artists in the field. 3D printing and modeling, motion activated systems, robotics, biological engineering, digital imaging, and social media platform are just some of the advanced technologies used by today's artists to create artwork. And often these technologies become the subject of the artwork themselves. Artists are increasingly turning to fabricators, programmers, animators, and engineers to produce their work. What does this mean for the future of art?
