About this Event
2301 TRINITY ST , Austin, Texas 78712
https://lib.utexas.edu/events/88Since 1965, the Association of University Presses, Book, Jacket, and Journal Show, has fulfilled its mission to "honor and instruct": honoring the design and production teams whose work furthers a long tradition of excellence in book design, and—through a traveling exhibit and acclaimed annual catalog of selected entries—visually teaching the tenets of good design.
The Book, Jacket, and Journal Show is a juried design competition, open only to member publishers. Each January, the jurors gather in the Association's New York offices to examine hundreds of submissions and select the very best examples of book, journal, and cover designs. Jurors are esteemed interior and cover designers appointed by the annual show committee. The annual Book, Jacket, and Journal Show exhibit premieres at the Annual Meeting, then begins traveling to exhibits around North America—and sometimes around the globe, and the annual printed catalog is a treasured design reference.
This year’s exhibition will be on display in the Fine Arts Library on the University of Texas at Austin campus from March 19 – 30, 2018. Please stop by to view and handle the 50 books and 52 dust jackets that were selected by jurors James Victore, Catherine Casalino, Liam Gillick, and Jena Sher. You can also pick up a free copy of the printed catalog.
