View map Free EventMaster Cuban drummer Melena Francis Valdez and Professor Crosson will join music and scholarship to explore the African religious traditions of Cuba and Trinidad. They will honor the philosophical and sonic technologies of these traditions, which have made them important forces in the Caribbean, the US, and beyond.
The event will take place Thursday, January 30 from 6:30-8 pm at The George Washington Carver Museum and Cultural Center, located at 1165 Angelina Street, Austin, Texas.
There will be a live performance by Master Cuban drummer, Melena Francis Valdez, prior to the talk. Light refreshments will be provided. The event is free and open to the public.
