DESCRIPTION:The Black Home as Public Art consists of an exhibition and symp
 osium examining creative notions of the Black home in the United States du
 ring the postwar period.\n\n \n\nThe exhibition will be on display August 
 30-November 15 and will present eight artist-led practicies that employ ad
 aptive reuse and public art strategies to reinterpret the Black home to in
 flect the demands of Black social movements\, contemporary politics\, and 
 racial uplift. \n\n \n\nA one-and-a-half-day symposium on September 11–1
 2 will complement the exhibition\, bringing together designers\, historian
 s\, curators\, and archivists for interdisciplinary discussions about thes
 e projects\, their significance\, and the importance of pluralizing the ar
