COGSEC Conference Pre-conference Competitions

The Center for Media Engagement, in partnership with Conference Chair Tim Hwang, will host COGSECa new conference focusing on the real-world practice of countering online influence operations. The conference will be held virtually on March 4-5, 2021.

COGSEC is aimed at bringing together a community of practitioners on the front lines of dealing with and actively combatting the efforts of malign actors online. The conference will feature practical, hands-on workshops on hunting and neutralizing disinformation campaigns, and competitions exposing vulnerabilities that persist in our information landscape.

COGSEC is hosting two pre-conference competitions over the next few months. One competition will pit teams against one another in creating and detecting faked images. The second will focus on uncovering different aspects of the disinformation ecosystem surrounding the upcoming US presidential election.

Competition winners will receive honoraria up to $10,000 and will be invited to keynote at the conference in the spring. You can learn more and sign up to participate in the competitions here. The deadline to sign up is September 14

Registration for the conference itself will open in early 2021. You can sign up to be notified when it opens by adding your email address here.
