Dr. Hernando Rodríguez Correa, associate professor at the Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México in Morelia, Michoacan.

Dr. Rodríguez Correa's research focuses on describing geographic patterns of species diversity and its genetic variation from macroecological, biogeographical and phylogeographic methods. Dr. Rodríguez Correa will present several study cases regarding how geographic information contributes to understand how oak species distribute across Mexico's montane forests, to then show how the traits of the landscape are essential in order to model the potential risk of climate change to the oak species conservation due to connectivity loss. His findings include a discussion on the role of both ex situ and in situ conservation strategies for the preservation of Mexico's oaks diversity.
