https://www.strausscenter.org/events/doxing-abusing-legitimate-services-data-brokers-and-public-records/On Tuesday, March 7th, the Strauss Center is hosting Yahoo! Paranoids cybersecurity expert Sean Sposito as he discusses targeting online harassment across the public and private sector. Across the internet, victims of online harassment are increasingly battling a uniquely American problem aimed at intimidating their work. This talk looks at the common abuse goals of people looking to abuse journalists, poll workers, election officials, and just everyday folks. It also focuses on how doxing happens through the typical scenarios that underlie the practice, and how legitimate services are abused to target highly-visible and vulnerable people.
The event is free and open to the public. No RSVP is required. Lunch is provided. If you have questions, please contact Susan Crane at scrane@austin.utexas.edu.
