You are invited to participate in a study focused on human preferences, comfort, and perceptions during encounters with a mobile quadruped robot performing exploration tasks. Exploration tasks are extremely relevant to many real-world problems like inspection, inventory, search for lost items or mapping. As autonomous robots advance in capability, it is critical for researchers to thoroughly investigate the communities’ feelings and preferences about these systems. This study looks to perform laboratory experiments to evaluate participants’ feelings about the proposed method compared with existing baselines. Participants will take questionnaires to evaluate the robot behaviors and then take part in interviews after the experimental portion is completed.
The study is being conducted by Prof. Luis Sentis’ Human Centered Robotics Laboratory in the Department of Aerospace Engineering and Engineering Mechanics of The University of Texas.

Experiments will be conducted in Anna Hiss Gymnasium at Austin, 2506 Wichita St, AHG
2.202, Austin, TX 78712, ryan.gupta@utexas.edu.

This is a research study and has been approved by The University of Texas at Austin
Institutional Review Board (STUDY#00006226). The experiment will take approximately 1 hour. Up to 30 total subjects will be recruited for these experiments.

If you are 18 years or older and a healthy adult currently a community member at the University of Texas at Austin and would like more information about participating, please contact Ryan Gupta at ryan.gupta@utexas.edu to obtain more information.
Compensation will be given to all participants in the form of a $20 Gift Card.
