Ethics and AI: A Fireside Chat with Tim Hwang

Good Systems, the third and final Bridging Barriers grand challenge, launches in September. To celebrate, the team is hosting a fireside chat with Tim Hwang, a lawyer, writer, and researcher working at the intersection of emerging technologies and society.

Hwang was formerly the director of the Harvard-MIT Ethics and Governance of AI Initiative, a philanthropic project working to ensure that machine learning and autonomous technologies are researched, developed, and deployed in the public interest. Previously, he served as Google's global public policy lead on artificial intelligence, leading outreach to government and civil society on issues surrounding the social impact of the technology.

Dubbed “The Busiest Man on the Internet” by Forbes Magazine, his current research focuses on the geopolitical aspects of computational power and machine learning hardware.

Following the fireside chat, we invite everyone to attend a reception to meet the Good Systems research team and learn about projects that will be launching this year.

This is a free event, but space is limited, so please reserve your spot today.

I highly recommend any of the Good Systems events if you are interested in the future of AI, ethics and how AI has moved into everything from healthcare to journalism. Love that the Good Systems initiative is working across disciplines and there are so many different types of people sharing their perspectives and researching with cross-functional teams.
