http://www.chsa-5thbiennial.org/The 5th Biennial Meeting on Construction History, co-hosted by the School of Architecture at the University of Texas at Austin, will take place from May 26-29, 2016.
Construction Historians and independent scholars will share research and establish a discussion on the theme of Knowledge Exchange and Building Technology Transfer.
Fifty presentations will be given which depict the scenarios, building solutions, industry, and cultural transformations that are the result of those exchanges and transferences in the Americas. The opening lecture will be presented by UTSOA professor Dr. Richard Cleary, and invited keynote speakers include Tom F. Peters and Roberto Meli. Three guided tours led by local expert historians have been organized: Bridges – Transportation, Austin and Immediate Surroundings; San Antonio Franciscan Missions; and Painted Churches of Texas.
Abstract session themes include: Prefabrication in North America; The 19th Century; Bridges, Mid-Century Architecture; Construction Units: Terracotta, Glass & Bric; Pre-colonial and Colonial Latin America; Code, Theory & Management; Shells and Spatial Structures I and II; and Skin and Guts: Envelope and Mechanical Systems.
