Film Screening: Like Water for Chocolate / Como agua para chocolate

The Department of Spanish and Portuguese will host a special screening of the award-winning film Como agua para chocolate (Like Water for Chocolate, 2h, 3m; directed by Alfonso Arau, screenplay by Laura Esquivel).

The screening is hosted in advance of the November 8 campus visit by renowned Mexican author Laura Esquivel, whose bestselling novel inspired the movie. (Learn more at about the November 8 event at "Like Water for Chocolate: 30 Years of Laura Esquivel.")

The screening will be followed by a discussion with Professor Laura Gutiérrez (Mexican-American and Latina/o Studies) and Spanish & Portuguese PhD student Camila Torres Castro.

This screening will be held in the Ransom Center's Prothro Theater. Seating is limited and available on a first come, first served basis.
