About this Event
Free EventOn April 13, from 5 - 6:15 PM, the Dean's Scholars Student Association is hosting our annual (and free) Distinguished Lecture Series at Jester Auditorium. This year’s speaker is Nobel laureate Dr. Michael Young. In 2017, Dr. Young received the Nobel Prize in Physiology or Medicine for his work on identifying genes in Drosophila involved in circadian rhythms using Drosophila. He currently runs his own lab at Rockefeller University, pushing the boundaries of our understanding of what makes us “tick”.
In addition to gaining a greater understanding of how our internal clock maintains our subconscious bodily functions, we hope Dr. Young can provide an example of “what starts here changes the world”, as he was first introduced to biological research as a graduate student at UT. RSVP here and find more information on our website, https://www.deansscholars.org/dls. We hope you can join Dr. Young on his journey to discover how we sleep, stay awake, and go about our daily lives!
