Honduras, a nation ravaged by unprecedented violence and poverty, is facing a deep political crisis after its recent presidential election. This contested election follows decades of corruption, scandal, and a long history of U.S. intervention. So far, at least 30 people have been killed and dozens more have been injured during street protests to challenge the legitimacy of incumbent president, Juan Orlando Hernández.
This LLILAS Benson Foro Urgente will present a conversation about the fragility of the democratic institutions in the Central American nation and the complex scenario facing Honduran civil society.
