The Health Science Scholars program is excited to present Dr. Karen DeSalvo for our Distinguished Lecturer Series this year! Dr. DeSalvo is a widely acclaimed doctor, serving in the Obama administration as the Assistant Secretary for Health in the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services. She has also served as the New Orleans Health Commissioner during Hurricane Katrina, and has received the Surgeon General's Medallion -- the highest honor bestowed by the U.S. Public Health Service. 

She is an expert in natural disaster relief and public health, and we are honored to host her this year!
