THIS SATURDAY! Grad Writing Retreat
Come for the free coffee, stay for the productivity, encouragement, and solidarity.
This Saturday February 29, 2020 from 10am to 5pm in PCL 2.330 and Learning Labs 1 & 2. Stay all day or drop in for a few hours. We'll provide coffee, tea, and light snacks as well as access to computers and UWC peer graduate consultants, who are happy to talk through a writing block or question with you. Writing retreats are free and open to all UT graduate students.
You might be thinking, can't I just work at home on Saturday? Yes, of course you can! What we offer is a quiet, reduced distraction environment and a diverse community of writers who are working on similar projects and facing similar challenges -- it can be very empowering to know you're not alone in this!! Plus, FREE SNACKS!!
Here's some feedback we received from graduate students about recent retreats:
"I learned how to organize my time more efficiently."
"I was able to focus better by being away from the lab and in a quiet room with plenty of natural light. It was awesome to be able to use one of the provided iMac computers. It definitely increased my productivity."
"I stayed focused and accomplished all of my goals for the day. I set up a 15-minute meeting with a writing consultant at the end of the day to hold myself accountable. This strategy worked really well for me; by the time I left, I had finally 'figured out' a seminar paper topic that had been weighing on me. Now I feel like I can move forward with it in a more structured way."
