 den\, founder of Capitol Peak Strategies and Adjunct Senior Fellow at the C
 enter for a New American Security’s Energy\, Economics\, and Security Progr
 am\, for a discussion on “Guns\, Drugs\, and Cash: Financial Warfare from D
 amascus to Pyongyang.” This talk will be held as a fireside chat with Strau
 ss Center Director Adam Klein.\n\n \n\nThis discussion will touch on themes
  surrounding national security law and financial intelligence\, case studie
 s on the use of economic tools for national security (from tariffs to count
 ering terrorism financing to anti-money laundering initiatives)\, the impac
 t of new and emerging technologies like cryptocurrency and artificial intel
 ligence\, the role of the U.S. dollar and U.S. institutions in economic sta
 tecraft\, current threats\, and more.\n\n \n\nThis is event is free and ope
 n to the public and lunch will be provided. Garage parking is available for
  a fee at the Manor Garage and the San Jacinto Garage. Parking will not be 
 validated and parking in Lots 37 and 39 are prohibited for non-UT parking p

  the founder and principal of Capitol Peak Strategies\, a DC-based risk adv
 isory firm\, an adjunct senior fellow at the Center for a New American Secu
 rity (CNAS)\, and a senior advisor to WestExec Advisors\, a geopolitical ri
 sk consultancy.\n\n \n\nAs a regulatory lawyer\, economic policymaker\, and
  financial diplomat\, Alex brings a depth of public and private sector expe
 rience at the intersection of financial services\, economics\, and national
  security. Alex has published extensively on issues involving economic stat
 ecraft such as economic sanctions\, counter threat finance\, and emerging f
 inancial technologies.\n\n \n\nAlex previously worked across the U.S. gover
 nment\, including at the White House National Economic Council\, Congress\,
  and the Treasury Department’s Office of Terrorism and Financial Intelligen
 ce and Financial Crimes Enforcement Network (FinCEN). Alex deployed to Afgh
 anistan to lead the Treasury Department office at the U.S. Embassy in Kabul
 .
