The McCombs Houston Alumni Chapter is excited to announce our September lunch speaker: William "Billy" Murphy, Jr., Chief Executive Officer of University Lands. In his role as CEO, Billy Murphy, Jr. oversees the management of 2.1 million acres of West Texas land supporting the Permanent University Fund (PUF), a critical endowment for the University of Texas and Texas A&M University Systems. Appointed in 2022, Mr. Murphy brings over 15 years of experience in land and mineral management, including roles in oil and gas, renewables, and low-carbon solutions. Prior to this, he was an executive officer at King Ranch, Inc., and began his career at Bracewell LLP in their energy transactions group. Mr. Murphy holds a bachelor's degree from Texas Tech University and a law degree from South Texas College of Law. His leadership at University Lands reflects a commitment to responsible stewardship and the advancement of energy initiatives that benefit Texas higher education institutions.
