This workshop will provide a foundation for conducting various types of evidence syntheses including systematic reviews, scoping reviews, meta-analyses, umbrella reviews, and more. While common in medicine, the systematic review methodology has been adopted by many disciplines.  These review types share common steps and rigorous reporting methods.  We will review commonalities and differences, give an overview of the process of evidence synthesis, and introduce you to databases and tools that support the methodology, literature identification, and the writing process.

In this 90-minute workshop, you will

• Understand the similarities and differences between various evidence syntheses methodologies and how to determine which one suits your project
• Become familiar with the various methodological standards and guidance you will follow when engaged in an evidence synthesis
• Learn the basic common steps involved in most evidence syntheses
• View brief demos of some of the databases and tools used to support these projects
• Brainstorm on your own project to kickstart the process and identify next steps
