Welcome to the Learning and Motivational Beliefs Lab! We are looking for self-driven & motivated undergraduate students to join us as Undergraduate Research Assistants this Spring 2024 (for course credit) and ongoing summer! 

 

At LAMB Lab, you will learn about what motivates students. We study people’s beliefs about and perceptions of themselves and others. Ultimately, our goal is to contribute to knowledge about best supporting all students’ learning and reducing inequities in educational outcomes.

Good applicants will:

  • Have an interest in education, educational psychology, psychology, or related fields; specifically, interest in academic motivation and the impact of teachers and peers;
  • A desire and passion for gaining research experience;
  • Be interested in pursuing a graduate degree (Master’s or PhD) after undergrad;
  • Can devote between 6 and 9 hours a week to the lab, and can attend our weekly lab meetings (Wednesdays from 4-5:30 pm) in the Sanchez Building.

You will need to take EDP 379L and receive course credit (either 2 or 3 credit hours).

  • As a research assistant, your duties will include:
  • Attending weekly lab meetings (in-person), where you will learn about research and engage with graduate students, faculty, and other undergraduate RAs;
  • Learning how to put surveys using Qualtrics software;
  • Testing surveys;
  • Cleaning and organizing qualitative data;
  • Qualitative coding of open-ended survey responses

 

The LAMB lab is directed by Dr. Katie Muenks and is located in the George I. Sanchez Building.
