Using her research on the violence that took place from the 1980s through the early 2000s in Colombia as a case study, Department of History doctoral candidate Jimena Perry will introduce Voyant Tools, a web-based analysis platform for digital texts. Participants will conduct a distant reading of survivor testimonies preserved at the Hall of Never More (Granada, Colombia) and related sources to discern patterns and textual relationships in the corpus.
No prior knowledge necessary. Students, faculty, and staff from any discipline are encouraged to attend.
Lunch will be served. Space is limited to 25 UT affiliates. Registration opens Wednesday, September 27, and closes Friday, October 13, through Eventbrite.
