Physics PhD student Yorgos Stratis discusses why grad students are central to the university, and why we should unionize.
From the speaker:
How much power do grad students have? If all of us decided to not show up at work, university-wide research and teaching will come to a standstill.Yet most people do not even recognize us as workers. My goal is to make the case that the best avenue to improve our working conditions is by unionizing.
About the speaker:
Yorgos grew up in Cyprus and came to the US for his physics bachelors. Besides his passion for physics, Yorgos is interested in contemporary labor issues. He is a union member and an advocate for free education.
