What would life be like if the sounds you heard automatically evoked experiences of colour or touch? Physics PhD student Ryan Hannigan will introduce us to the rare and fascinating condition of synesthesia, and what it's like for him to live with it.

About the speaker:
Ryan is an experimental particle physicist. He has had synesthesia for as long as he can remember, but was diagnosed only at 11 (first as 'perfect pitch' by his guitar teacher, then synesthesia by a psychiatrist). Ryan has also been playing piano for 20 years, guitar for 13, and saxophone for 12.
