Join UT Moody's Career Center, and the Annette Strauss Institute for Civic Life for a September webinar series that explores career opportunities in the field of public service for communications majors. Each Thursday, we will connect students with prominent civic leaders to get an insiders perspective on how to navigate career fields in politics, policy, public service communications or campaigning.

****
Ana Rodriguez DeFrates has committed her life’s work to feminist causes, including the fight for sexual and reproductive freedom, anti-racism work, and civic engagement.
She is cofounder of the Survivor Justice Project – a local advocacy group seeking system and community level transformation to address sexual violence in Austin, TX, and also serves as a philanthropic advisor for diverse range of state and local organizations working to shift the cultural and policy climate in Texas so dramatically that anyone who wants an abortion can have one affordably, in a timely manner, and with support and dignity.
Before entering the field of philanthropy, Ana served as the TX DIrector for Policy & Advocacy at the National Latina Institute for Reproductive Health, as well as District Director and Assistant General Counsel to State Senator Kirk Watson. Ana brings a strong public policy and organizing approach to all of her work as a licensed attorney in the State of Texas, with a law degree from South Texas College of Law, and a Master’s degree in Social Work from the University of Texas at Austin.
