Beat the Rush is a monthly live music series featuring contemporary musicians responding to visual art. This month, composer Henna Shih-Han Chou presents an original score for small woodwind ensemble and electronics. The score is inspired by the Blanton’s collection, which juxtaposes contemporary art with Old Master paintings. John-Mike Reed (aka Dr. Bleep), a musician and instrument designer, has been commissioned to create an original instrument to be used in the performance.
