Orality and Literacy XIII: Repetition

“Orality and Literacy” is a biennial international conference founded in 1994 that meets every two years at a different university around the world. Each conference has a different specific theme that is relevant in a range of different ways to both orality and literacy; this year’s theme is repetition.

The participants in “Orality and Literacy” include Classicists, Biblical scholars, and scholars in a range of other disciplines with interests in orality and/or literacy, such as the epic and performance traditions of southeast Asia and of medieval Europe. The conference brings together scholars at every stage of their careers, ranging from very senior scholars to those just starting out. This year’s keynote speaker will be Ruth Scodel, D. R. Shackleton Bailey Professor of Classics at the University of Michigan and also a co-founder of the “Orality and Literacy” conference.
