Paid Brain Imaging Research Study on Family Risk for Alcohol Problems: Young Adults Needed

The Department of Psychiatry at Dell Medical School is conducting a research study that looks at genes and how the brain responds to alcohol using MRI brain scanning techniques.

We are looking for people who:

  • are 21-26 years of age
  • are not pregnant or possibly pregnant
  • have a parent with alcohol problems
  • are able to drink alcohol during study visits

You will come to the laboratory for 3 study visits. Study components include completing diagnostic interviews, mental function (cognitive and behavioral) tests, giving a saliva sample, and completing two sessions during which you drink alcohol while wearing a transdermal alcohol monitoring bracelet. Total participation for first assessment (no alcohol) will take about around 4 hours. Each of the two alcohol sessions will take up to 5-6 hours. You will wear the alcohol monitor overnight following the alcohol sessions.

You will be compensated for study components completed and receive up to $175.

To see if you are eligible, complete this interest form and study staff will contact you:
